12-year-old Akkie, is a confident, athletic girl who beats everyone on the football field, that includes Joep, an arrogant bully who believes football is a "boy's game". Preparing herself for the upcoming football tournament, she suddenly falls ill with leukemia. Despite the pain treatments and her deteriorating heath, the football superstar remains positive. Her resilience and determination, and her passion for football inspire everyone around her. She even forms a special bonding with her once rival Joep, whom she slowly develops a crush on but too scared to admit her own romantic feelings.
