The Dreamer

Last year's The Rainbow Troops was a major box office hit in Indonesia as well as a critical success, so it is no surprise that the next book in Andrea Hirata's tetralogy would be adapted. The Dreamer uses a new set of casts but continues the story of Ikal, now a teenager. He forms new friendships, struggles with the daily chores of life and love, while still dreaming of opportunities that are bigger than what life could provide for them. Though now older, the characters still exude a natural sweetness, while their scenarios evoke youthful nostalgia.
