Live N' Loud is the latest annual music festival in Hong Kong. The first year of event launched on August 5. Five bands from all over the world lined up for this exciting event: Simple Plan, OneRepublic, LostProphets, New Found Glory and Jamie Scott & The Town.
Jamie Scott & The Town from UK kicked off the show. The band's line-up includes a double bass, cello and acoustic guitar. His set comprised with beautiful ballads such as "Weeping Willow", "When Will I See Your Face Again", "Standing In The Rain", and a new song titled "Kiss Me".
American band New Found Glory was next. They were definitely the most catching band of the night. Vocalist Jordan Pundik often asked the fans to make a circle and crowd surfing, guitarist Chad Gilbert took photos of the audience. However, none of this can compared to the scene where bassist Ian Grushka licking his own tits on stage! The band covered Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" and Sixpence None The Richer's "Kiss Me" among their own hits, like "All Downhill From Here", "Hit Or Miss", "It's Not Your Fault" and ended with "My Friends Over You" finishing their 50-minutes set.
UK punk-rock band LostProphets took the longest time to setup and the band took the stage at 21:30. The band proved the wait was worth it by giving one great performance of the night. They played most of the songs from their 2006 album Liberation Transmission. Although the band were quiet when they stepped onto the stage, the affections of the fans below have melted them down and after 5-6 songs in, vocalist Ian Watkins began to talk to the fans. Fans sang along while they played a string of hits such as "Everyday Combat", "Can't Catch Tomorrow", "A Town Called Hypocrisy", "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)", "Last Summer", "Last Train Home" and ended with "Burn Burn".
OneRepublic from America followed and frontman Ryan Tedder offered an excellent vocal performance, which can match up Chris Martin of Coldplay, that night. There are some dance beats influences in their music, so you would expect to see fans jumping and dancing around. Kicking off with , the band also played hits like , . They even paid tribute to The Verve with their rendition of and covered Rihanna's .The headliner of the night, Canadian band Simple Plan stormed the stage at mid-night. They put up two backdrops featuring sky-scrapers in Hong Kong, and had a very clean stage by using wireless amps and effectors for their instruments. If you have listened to them on records before, you would be thrilled to hear them live as they were much better live than on records. With a shorter setlist than originally planned, the band paid respect to their loyal and huge Hong Kong fans-base with , , and . After , the band joked that they had written a new song last week and would played it for the first time, but instead, the band launched into a cover of American rapper Flo Rida's , followed by Sean Kingston's and the cover medley ended with rock'n'roll classic .
