Berlin-Stettin

Veteran German film-maker Volker Koepp has made documenting the history and inhabitants of the areas east of the river Elbe his life's work. In the rich biographical documentary Berlin-Stettin, Koepp begins with his memories of post-war Berlin, continues through the east German region of Uckermark before ending in the former German city of Stettin, or now Szczecin, Poland, where he was born. With humour and wistfulness, he reflects upon the land and the people of these areas, tracing the wounds of the past and the hopes of the present.
