Renoir

A painter's muse is traditionally depicted as the source of inspiration and many a heartache. In Renoir, she inspires both the elderly widow Pierre-August as well as his son Jean, who arrives injured from World War I. Based on a true story, the film paints a complex relationship between father and son - though in this case, the father is a world-renowned master painter, and the son would become one of the great film directors.
