Shoplifters

Published Published almost 6 years ago by Leslie Cheung

Director Hirokazu Kore-eda's Shoplifters is a story about a family of shoplifters living in Tokyo trying to make ends meet. He is no stranger in telling a story of family drama, just watch his works in Still Walking, Like Father Like Son, Our Little Sister and After The Storm. Shoplifters details the hardship in life of each family members, and moments how they support each other by being there. What makes Shoplifters special, just like Like Father Like Son, is that it tells you that it is not the bloodline that builds up a family's bond, it is the love and caring. A good family is one that each member becomes a better human being with the support of each other. When the inevitable separation comes, it is heart-breaking to watch.
