[The following review contains spoilers for Hereditary. Please watch the film first before reading.]
Hereditary is for people who falls in love of the beauty of creepy feeling and insanity of Antichrist and The Witch. The film is so good at setting up creepy atmosphere and misdirection with old horror elements, but with new kind of execution. When you think it is about the mother-daugher tension between generations and family curse, then you are mistaken, because it goes way more deeper than that and the audience does not know what is really going on until the end. After the main twist, the film turns from eerie to pure chaotic hell that tears the family apart.
The authenticness of the film's King Paiman and occult references is also why we love Hereditary, because it adds the extra layer of haunting and weirdness. Stylistic jump-cuts from night to day and ghostly laser are just icing on the cake.
