Manon Of The Spring

Manon of the Spring takes place a decade after the tragic death of Jean de Florette. Jean's wife has resumed her operatic career in Marseille while his daughter Manon (Emmanuelle Béart) stays behind to become a wild and beautiful shepherdess after witnessing Ugolin (Daniel Auteuil) and Papet (Yves Montand) unblocking her father's spring. As Ugolin's carnation-growing career takes off, Papet hopes that he gets married to prolong the family line. Ugolin falls hopelessly in love with Manon after peeping at her bathing nude in the mountain stream but Manon feels affection for the new schoolteacher. After knowing that the villagers are complicit in concealing the spring from her father, Manon blocks the spring of the whole village...
