Becoming Jane

// Plot_Synopsis

What becomes of Jane Austen when she becomes the heroine of a love story and may need a husband herself? The unpublished 20-year-old Jane Austen (Anne Hathaway) meets her love Mr. Lefroy (James McAvoy), an aspiring lawyer with a dashing demeanour, fashionable and arrogant to boot. But her family wants her to marry wealthy but wearisome Mr. Wisley, who is the heir to Lady Gresham. On the other hand, Mr Lefroy's fortune and future depend entirely upon his uncle, who disapproves of Jane because of her poor family. All these struggles between marriage for love or for money may finally lead to the famed first sentence of Pride And Prejudice: "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."
