The Heimat series, by Germany's veteran director Edgar Reitz, did much to portray Germany as a significant, historic identity. This time, Reitz returns with a domestic drama and love story set in the mid-19th century, when many Europeans settled in South America to escape the poverty and famine of the time. Using his well-constructed template of family, romance and drama, this new film centers around two brothers who realise that only their dreams can save them.
