The Rose Of The Name: Writing Hong Kong

// Plot_Synopsis

Born amidst the anti-colonial riots of 1967, and named Author of the Year by the Hong Kong Book Fair during the turbulence of Occupy-Central 2014, Dung Kai-cheung has become Hong Kong's emerging voice in world literature. Film essayist Evans Chan (Datong: The Great Society), offers an illuminating portrait of Dung, his lineage and the current state of the Hong Kong literary world. The film explores not only the challenge faced by a writer working in a so-called "cultural desert," but also a post-colonial people's search for its voice and place in Greater China and the world.
