Eisenstein In Guanajuato

Sergei Eisenstein is so deeply embedded in Soviet film and history that it seems impossible to imagine him away from the Odessa steps or the icy landscapes of Alexander Nevsky. Yet, in 1930, Paramount invited him to Hollywood, whence he traveled to Mexico. This interlude provides Peter Greenaway with a leaping off point to explore a new sensuality and meaning that Eisenstein discovers in ten days with his Mexican guide, Palomino Canedo.
