Sure to please (and likely surprise) cinephiles of all stripes, Bruno Dumont's latest work is a wacky police procedural that infuses his usual rigorous social observations into screwball comedy. Chock-full of strange small-town characters and preposterous situations, the film centers on a series of bizarre murders - human remains stuffed in livestock, for one - being investigated by a bumbling police captain, his sidekick, and a mischievous crew of local children.
