The Look Of Silence
// Plot_Synopsis
Joshua Oppenheimer's formidable follow-up to The Act Of Killing centres on Adi, an optometrist whose brother was killed during the 1965-66 Indonesian political massacre. As Adi makes his rounds in the village to conduct eye exams, he also compels his patients - many of whom are his neighbours - to address their direct role in the killings. Poignant and revelatory, The Look Of Silence starkly betrays the abysmal gap between perpetrators and victims' families that is entrenched within the complex entanglements of history.
