The Glorious Works Of G.F. Zwaen

In the late 90’s Amsterdam-based writer Gerard F. Zwaen is having a hard time: in the middle of a divorce; his latest novel The Spider... is not getting the acclaim and he needs money: He decided to visit his accountant but is horrified to see he is lying dead, together with other dead men along with an assortment of weapons and a bag stuffed full of cash... The writer seems to see an opportunity in it, but soon he starts getting visits from a crooked tax inspector, a ruthless drugs trafficker and a persistent internal-affairs agent... While his girlfriend Lisa gets more and more involved in his problems. The consequences of Zwaen's actions appear to lead him from the more worldly, to bigger and timeless themes...
