The Last Stitch
// Plot_Synopsis
A Shanghainese family emigrated to Toronto, Canada from Hong Kong in 1996, just before the handover, and brought with them the tailoring technique that has been passed down through the generations. However, it seems that this tradition of handmade Chinese Cheongsam is now disappearing, making this family the last such tailors in Toronto.
Capturing this melancholy realisation, director Alfred Sung blends vintage footage and home videos to trace the story of the Chinese diaspora through the medium of traditional tailoring.
