Apart Together

Apart Together centres on a veteran Kuomintang soldier who is given permission for the first time to travel to the mainland. He returns to Shanghai in order to find his wife and son, whom he left behind as part of the Nationalists' exodus in 1949. While successful in his search, the retired soldier soon realises that his long-lost lover now has a family of her own.
