It is a documentary about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey. He received the name Atatürk (meaning Father of the Turks) in 1934 from the Grand National Assembly as a tribute. Atatürk opposed the conservative forces around the sultan, and seeks to transform by adopting European democratic principles. After the abdication of the sultan and the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey 1923, Atatürk was named president. His reforms included introducing Western law codes, dress, calendar, and Latin alphabet. The documentary narrates, along with Mustafa's epic journey through life, a disintegrating empire in the first quarter of the 20th century. The documentary brings daylight to Atatürk's unseen photographs, diaries, private correspondence, favourite songs and a wide selection of documents, invites viewers to meet Atatürk in a whole new dimension.
