The Lonely Wife

Based on the novella Nastanirh by Rabindranath Tagore, and set in the late 1800s, the film concerns Charu (Madhabi Mukherjee), a housewife whose affluent lifestyle is marred by loneliness. Too busy with work, her husband Bhupati (Sailen Mukherjee) asks his cousin Amal (Soumitra Chatterjee) to spend time with Charu. But soon their relationship blossoms into something stronger.
