// Plot_Synopsis

Xiao-li is an orchestra member of the church located in a Chinese village, with a dying husband suffering from pneumo silicosis at the hospital, while their nine-year-old daughter named Shengyue leaves school for lacking of tuition fee.

Everyday, Xiao-li rehearses the Wedding March in the church, and there, a pair of Christians is celebrating their wedding that day. After the wedding, Xiao-li goes to the hospital as usual, but this time she is going to take her husband for home, giving up any treatments. The husband dies on the way; Xiao-li rides her three-heel cart home with his body.

The husband is inhumed after a simple memorial ceremony. Xiao-li uses their sole money to pay the tuition fee for Sheng-yue. Xiao-li and her daughter, sing the thanksgiving song at the dinner table: "Thank you Jesus! Thank you Jesus, for the food, for the food..."
