Bashment

Aspiring M.C. JJ is getting a lot of attention in the London urban music scene due to his fantastic skill. However, he is different from most of the people in the scene. He is white and he is gay. On the night of the Urban Slam Finals, JJ decides to come out on stage, bringing his boyfriend Orly there for moral support. Unable to accept their loss to JJ, JJ's rival group savagely beats Orly almost to death, casing Orly to suffer from brain damage. Daniel, a gay young lawyer is assigned to defend the case for the group. Still uncomfortable with his sexuality, Daniel takes on the case and gets them a lighter sentence. Unable to deal with his guilt, Daniel decides to help JJ to educate the public through outreach and civil action that some of the lyrics of those songs might be the cause of homophobic violence.
