Universal Pictures has announced that the first-ever live-action adaptation of Makoto Shinkai’s masterpiece, 5 Centimeters Per Second, will hit cinemas this February. Directed by Yoshiyuki Okuyama, the film stars Hokuto Matsumura and Mitsuki Takahata, alongside a talented supporting cast including Nana Mori and Aoi Miyazaki. This adaptation revisits the "origin of the Shinkai World" 18 years after the original anime's release.
The film is scheduled to premiere in Hong Kong and Macau on February 5, 2026, followed by the Taiwan release on February 6, 2026.
