Following months of anticipation, A24 has officially released the full trailer for its film adaptation of the viral horror phenomenon, Backrooms. Directed by Kane Parsons (the 19-year-old filmmaker behind the original Kane Pixels YouTube series), the movie marks him as the youngest director in A24 history.
Originated from a 4chan thread dated in 2019, and based on his own YouTube video series of the same name, Backrooms centres on a therapist (Renate Reinsve) who must brave the labyrinthine, yellow-walled corridors of a strange dimension after her patient (Chiwetel Ejiofor) disappears into a mysterious doorway found in a furniture showroom basement. Also starring Mark Duplass and Finn Bennett, the film is produced by James Wan and Shawn Levy. Backrooms is scheduled for a theatrical release in US and Taiwan on May 29, 2026.
