The Circle

Through a series of candid interviews Stefan Haupt transports us back to 1950s Zurich, where young schoolteacher Ernst Ostertag has his comfortable bourgeois life turned upside when he attends a gala hosted by The Circle, where he falls head over heels in love with Robi.

Soon after joining gay organisation The Circle, a string of murders within the gay community forces the group to galvanise and become politically active in order to defend its members from irrational persecution. Its actions are today perceived as vital in the pioneering of gay emancipation, and Haupt handles his subject with humility and pride to tell a captivating story.
