Unfortunately, Pomeroy refuses to cover morning show staples like celebrity ossip, weather, fashion and crafts - let alone work with his new co-host, Colleen Peck (Diane Keaton), a former beauty queen and longtime morning show personality who is more than happy covering morning "news." As Mike and Colleen clash, first behind the scenes and then on the air, Becky's blossoming love affair with fellow producer, Adam Bennett (Patrick Wilson) begins to unravel - and soon Becky is struggling to save her relationship, her reputation, her job and ultimately, the show itself.

The film is based on the true story of science fiction writer Taku Mayumura (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi) whose wife (Yuko Takeuchi) died of colon cancer in 2002. After a doctor told him laughter can help the immune system, Mayumura began writing one story of at least 3 pages every day for his cancer-stricken wife. Although the initial prognosis was that she would only survive one year, she went on to live 5 good years with the help of the 1,778 total stories written by her husband for her over that time.

When these affluent housewives (Pat Ha, Michelle Ye, Carrie Ng) set out for fun, they agreed on several terms: go together and take care of each other; find a reliable gigolo club in an alien city; use only fake names, never reveal the true identity; and most importantly, pay only money for pleasures, no love involved. However, things turned out not according to their plans. This super lover boy (William Chan) entered their lives and they gradually broke all those rules they set up while their adventures went astray. Relationship, friendship, self-esteem, hope for the future... everything shattered when the basic desire exploded. When the killer Zhang Ning (Xia Yu) sneaks back to China after shooting a target execution-style in Hong Kong, Detective Leopard (Duan Yihong) is summoned from Hunan to his hometown Mobei to crack the case.
