The Cardboard Village

An old priest has worked for many years in a church that is about to be demolished. There is nothing he can do to stop the cruelty that modernity imposes on historical buildings. Feeling desperate, he takes refuge in the sacristy. Night falls and a storm. Out of nowhere, clandestine immigrants, running from the law and seeking for a roof, invade the church. Seemingly hopeless, for both the priest and the immigrants, a "resurrection" materialises. No longer seen as a place for liturgical ceremonies and golden altars, the church turns into a home where derelicts find aid and comfort, and where these poor people become the real ornament of the once sacred temple.
